I live in Terra Linda, the place I've called home for nearly 20 years. It’s where I’ve raised my family, and where I first rented and then purchased a home. My Coldwell Banker office is in Terra Linda. Personally, I think Terra Linda is a great place to live if you can afford it, and believe me when I say up until the past few years it was always a stretch: a stretch that was worth it. Usually when you buy a home you are going to be stretching, you just need to be careful you don’t take on a house that you can’t afford.
Terra Linda has a lot to offer. It’s got good schools, the community is warm, welcoming and diverse, and the activities here are first rate. I volunteered as a soccer coaching my daughters and their friends for seven years with what is now the Miller Creek Soccer Association, and I volunteered with the Terra Linda Orcas for 13 years while my daughters were on the swim team. I’ve been consistently sending out my real estate newsletter throughout Terra Linda for 17 years. I’m not really involved with the community in the same way anymore as my daughters are grown and out of college now, but I am glad to be a resource for many Terra Linda homeowners who often call on me for advice. For the past few years, I’ve been volunteering as a tech tutor at Vivalon in downtown San Rafael.
In 2025 I was by far the top listing agent in my Terra Linda office, with nearly 50% more listings than the next agent. My sales career has been prolific in Terra Linda. The following statistic is based on BAREIS MLS as of 1/1/26, and is not guaranteed, has not been verified, but is deemed reliable. Not surprisingly most of my 2025 listings were in Terra Linda. I draw a map in BAREIS MLS I title Terra Linda, and in it I roughly outline Terra Linda. In 2025 there were 59 sales within my Terra Linda map. 9 of those sales were my listings, and in one I represented a buyer. That’s almost 17% of the total Terra Linda sales that I was involved in. I completed 18 sales total last year, so I don’t exclusively work in Terra Linda. While I enjoy working throughout the Marin County and the North Bay, I have to admit I like being able to walk to my listings when anything comes up.
I’m in my very early 60’s now, and not slowing down. I am at the peak of my career in terms of knowledge, ability and accomplishments which include being named to my previous broker’s Hall of Fame. Other than struggling with hearing loss and wearing hearing aids, which is not unusual for someone my age, I’ve been blessed with good health. I work out daily, and try to surf at least once or twice a week. I plan to keep working at a high level at least until I’m 70 years old, then I’ll re-evaluate. My dad worked regularly until he was 75. There are salespeople in my office in the 70’s and even 80’s, but I’m not sure I want to keep doing it that long. Selling real estate is fun, exciting and challenging, so I can see why people keep doing it.
I’ve now been selling real estate full time for the past 22 years. I love it. I can think of nothing else, nothing more important that I’d rather do. Selling real estate gives my life purpose and meaning. I will be taking a break though, and have a surfing vacation on remote islands planned for three weeks later this year. This will be by far the longest vacation of my career, and I’m not sure how much access I will have to the internet or telephone. I just hope I don’t miss out on anything while I’m gone, but that’s typically a quiet time in the real estate world.
If you are thinking of buying or selling this year, please keep me in mind. I’d love to be or service. While I’m away I will have people covering for me as well so don’t hesitate to contact me. Just be patient while I’m out of the office, I’ll be back before you know it and before the spring rush starts ramping up.
